Rejoice that your names are written in heaven

Any time I hear about names been written in the book of life, I remember Nathaniel Bassey's song on it. The song is simply centered on the question "Is your name in the Book of life?"

Let us pause for a moment and ponder on this question.  Is your name in the book of life?

One may ask what is the book of life?  To answer this let us first tackle the question What is life? The answer is, God is Life. We all share in his Life but he is Life himself because he has Life from himself and does not depend on any one to live (Aseity). That is why Jesus said he is the Life (cf. John 14:6).

Now, if God himself is Life, the book of life will be related to God. But how is the book of life related to God?

Exodus 32:33

Yahweh said to Moses, 'Those who have sinned against me are the ones I shall blot out of my book.

The book of life is related to God in the sense that, just as God gives us life, after this life, before the Judgment throne of God, one will have Life provided his or her name is in the book of Life. Thus, just as the God is Life and gives Life, the book of Life gives Life because the book of Life is God.

In Philippians 4:3, Paul equates being in Christ Jesus to being in the book of life;

"and I ask you, Syzygus, really to be a 'partner' and help them. These women have struggled hard for the gospel with me, along with Clement and all my other fellow-workers, whose names are written in the book of life."

You just have to look at the text and ask yourself how can Paul know those whose names are written in the book of life, and you will understand from Paul that since Christ Jesus is Life (cf. Philippians 1:21),  when Christ is revealed, and he is your life,you, too, will be revealed with him in glory (cf. Colossians3:4).

So let us improve the question.

Is your name written in God?

With this when we look at Jesus's response to his 70 disciples that they should rather rejoice that their names are written in heaven we get the clearer understanding that God is Heaven.
