REST IN LOVE

We are still on the theme of Love, and today with the first reading St. Paul using the Mystery of the mystical body to talk about how husbands should Love their wives as their own body and wives be submissive to their husbands, and with the gospel talking about the Kingdom of God, we reflect on how we can find rest in Love.

There is one necessary thing we must realize about the Kingdom of God or heaven, that is, in heaven we are not only to enjoy the vision of God, but to feel our participation in His nature. I have said before that God is HEAVEN and when ever or wherever God's will is been done on earth means God's Kingdom is there as found in the our Father Prayer that "Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Now, if wherever God's will is been done is heaven because God is there, then it is clear that God is heaven, and doing his will is resting in him. This rest is a rest of Salvation, which brings peace to the person who finds God's rest. God's rest is found in Love, which is God himself (cf. 1 John 4:8, and 4:16). We attain it by being submissive to God and become part of his body, he will love us as his body, granting us rest which he is.

The Parable about the Mustard seed as the Kingdom of God draws our attention to the fact that, since God is Love and also the Kingdom of God, he is the only one who can give us rest.

If the Devil is the ruler who dominates the air, and the spirit who is at work in those who rebel (cf. Ephesians 2:2), then the birds in the air will only have truly rest in the branches of the Mustard tree, we can only have rest in Love.

Just as the yeast engulfs the flour and makes bread for satisfying a number of people, so to we must allow God's Love to engulf us so that we can find rest in him.

Anything you cannot change standing, consider going on your knees.
